CO2 utilization in brewing and packaging is common to most every brewery today. Whether in the bright beer tank for final carbonation, bottling lines for air evacuation or blanketing of yeast propagation tanks, CO2 performs an important role in the brewing process.
Generally the brewery CO2 is shipped in bulk containers and kept in holding tanks until required. Pipe work and hoses transport CO2 through multiple connections to the point of use. During transport there are many opportunities for CO2 contamination from unwanted particles and bacteria that may affect beer purity and quality.
The most cost effective method to ensure CO2 sterility is filtration. Strategically placed at the source, in-line, on tanks and at point of use, Membrane Solutions PFR 0.2 micron sterilizing grade filters give protection where needed. From 10" filters placed into large flow housings to selfcontained encapsulated filters with 1.5" sanitary Tri-clamp connections, Membrane Solutions PFR filters are manufactured in various sizes and configurations to fit any size brewery.
Membrane Solutions PFR filters meet FDA requirements for food contact materials and is designed with a double layer of PTFE to remove bacteria, viruses and particles from air and gas streams, even in the presence of humidity and moisture. Each filter can be repeatedly cleaned and reused for long service life.
