Description

Depth Filter Modules

Lenticular Depth Filters are advanced modular filtration systems designed to provide high-efficiency clarification across demanding industries water treatment, food and beverage fluids, and fine chemicals processing. Composed of three main components: individual filter cells, center core, end adapters. Each filter cell has two sheets of depth filter media with a polypropylene separator in between. This separator is on the downstream side of the two sheets, as the flow goes from the outside surface of the sheets to the inside. There' s also a polypropylene seal around the edge to bind the two sheets into a single cell. Then these cells are stacked on a center core, and end caps are added to lock them in place, forming a complete module.

Depth Filter Media

Membrane Solution' s different series of depth filter media could offer a broad range of material options to best meet our customer' s needs.

DE-Series

The media of DE series depth filter are composed of a mixture of cellulosic fibers and filter-aids (e.g. diatomaceous earth and perlites), forming an open 3D structure for superior particle retention. And these filters utilize a unique combination of surface, depth, and adsorptive filtration mechanisms to capture particles across a broad size range.

PC-Series

The media of PC series depth filter are made of pure cellulose fibers (mineral-free), ensuring chemical compatibility and low extractables. This proprietary media formulation significantly reduces ash content and heavy metal extractables, which are typically caused by inorganic materials such as diatomaceous earth (DE), perlite, and glass fibers commonly found in most depth filter media. When filtering heavy metal-sensitive products such as spirits, flavor and fragrance or cosmetics, the use of PC Series depth filter media substantially enhances filtrate quality.

[1] Effective removal performance of filter sheets is dependent on process conditions
[2] The permeability was measured under test conditions with deioized water at Δp of 1 bar (14.5 psi). And, the water value is not related in any way to the actual filtration flow rate

Graph 1 shows the water flow rate of deionized water at 20°C for DE Series depth filter media. The optimal flow rate varies depending on the application. However, as a general guideline, to achieve optimal performance, the flow rate per unit area of the filter medium should not exceed 20 L/(m²·min). Lower flow rates typically extend service life, improve output, and enhance the economic efficiency of the system. Nominal removal rating is indicated in Table 1 and Chart 1 for each available grade. The information of nominal removal rating is intended for use as a guide to filter selection. When choosing a grade, it is essential to consider actual operating conditions and the product to be filtered. MS Application Engineer will provide technical support to assist you in selecting the optimal grade. You may determine the most suitable filtration system for your specific application through sample evaluations at our application laboratory.
